Boys will be Boys

It seems our little "Bam Bam" had to prove just how much of a little bruiser he is...
Yesterday, Luca walked away from me and into the living room where he pulled an occasional table over onto himself. At first, I didn't know what was hurt, but I knew it was pretty bad, considering I had never heard him cry like that. I then saw that his little hand was turning purple and blowing up like a balloon. Later at the radiologist's office, it was confirmed that Luca had fractured his 3rd, 4th, and 5th metacarpals in his right hand. We thought that we were going to surely find out that it was just a bruise, so the news was devastating to Keith and me.
This morning we saw a pediatric hand orthopedist who recommended that Luca be casted beyond his elbow because he is so little (and would find a way to wiggle out of a shorter cast).
So my little 11 month old boy now has a blue cast to go with his white helmet.
He was a trooper, though, through it all and especially last night - he got much more sleep than I did! He is already used to the weight of the cast, and would rather not wear the sling. He has been walking and crawling up the steps like he never missed a beat.

We are so thankful for our great neighbors, who took care of Bella through all of this... Bella was a good sport and had a great time, actually, at the Porterfield's last night and this morning. We consider ourselves truly blessed to have them, and are thankful that the Lord took care of all of the details to get Luca taken care of!
What can you say? Boys will be boys, I guess.
